The Hewlett Foundation has announced prizes of $5000 to educators who have winning ideas about how to make sure that African children are learning the reading, writing and critical thinking skills they need.

They describe it this way: ”We know that kids who master the fundamentals of education are more likely to live longer, be healthier and, ultimately, be more prosperous. Starting March 18, 2009, we are searching for innovative educators in Africa who are making learning happen.” Submit your entry by the early entry deadline, April 15, 2009, and be eligible to win a cell phone and digital camera! Learn more about exciting opportunities and prizes.
